Swim for success!

I’ve been swimming now for about 5 weeks to help ease my PCOS symptoms and lose weight and honestly, I’ve never felt better! I’m really not one for stomping out and hour on the treadmill or cross training myself skinny and to be honest I really don’t like the gym! So I asked myself what exercise do I enjoy? What did I enjoy when I was a child? It all comes back to being in the water! I’ve done some research and here are 8 reasons why if you haven’t taken to the water already, you should give it a go!

  • Increase your energy levels

Being inactive gives you such a decline in your energy levels. Swimming just 30 mins, three times a week will sky rocket your energy levels as well as boost your metabolism.

  • It’s a full body work out

When you swim, you use a ton of different muscles. Not only are you burning calories, your toning your legs, bum, stomach, back and arms!

  • Relaxes and de stresses you

Swimming has been proven to lower stress levels, reduce depression and anxiety and improve your sleep…what more could you want?!

  • Burn those calories!!

Swimming is one of the most effective ways to burn calories and melt away fat. Swimming for half an hour, even a gentle one will burn twice as many calories as walking.

  • Gives your body the support it needs

Swimming is such a low impact sport that you could potentially swim everyday with minimal chance of injury as it is gentle on your joints and muscles.

  • No sweat!

No matter how hard you work in the water, you’ll never get sweaty as the water is constantly cooling you down…bonus!

  • Lowers the risk of diseases

Because swimming is such a great cardiovascular work out, just 30 minutes a week can lower the risk of heart disease, stokes and type 2 diabetes.

  • Combination work out

Swimming is a great cardio workout, endurance workout and toning workout. Water is 800 times more dense than air meaning your body must work harder to stay afloat and push through the water which in turn will give you fat melting results!

What’s your favourite exercise?

  1. Hello! It’s so important to find something that you really enjoy! There are already not enough hours In the day, why waste any of that precious time doing something you don’t like! Keep up the great work. Consistency is key!
